Mesacol OD tablet contains mesalazine which belongs to the group of medicines called salicylates. It is an anti-inflammatory medicine used for the treatment and prevention of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel disease in which the lining of the bowel, colon and rectum are inflamed). The medicine is also used to control the symptoms of ulcerative colitis such as diarrhea, stomach and rectal bleeding. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.
